The process in which participants have to take part in the formal discussion about a specific topic is known as a debate. The debates are occurring in the public meetings, legislative assemblies and academic institutions etc. In this formal type of discussion, there are moderators, audience members and participants. There are lots of benefits of debates for the students. The debates improve the critical thinking abilities of the students. The debates enhance teamwork and collaboration. Role Play Debate:

In this kind of debate, the students have to examine all the viewpoints or the perspectives of a topic. These viewpoints or perspectives are relevant to a specific issue. After examining different viewpoints, the participant has to yield a variety of opinions. While presenting the views about a specific topic, the students have to express one side of the issue. The other features of this kind of debate are teachers, parents and principal etc. In this kind of debate, the students have to identify all the stakeholders in the debate. The students have to choose these index cards randomly and they have to hold together. At last, each group of the students has to formulate the roles of these stakeholders. Tag Team Debate:

To take part in this kind of debate, the students have to work in small groups. While working in small groups, the students find equal opportunities for participation. To arrange these kinds of debates, the teachers divide the students into two groups. These two groups of the students have to present two different sides of the topic. The teachers allocate a specific amount of time to each group to present their point of views. When the teacher announces the topic before the audience, he gives the mike to one group. The members of this group have to talk about the topic for one-minute turn by turn. In this discussion, they have to persuade the audience members and judges that their point of view is more authentic than others. Similarly, the other team members have to follow the same process. All the team members will get equal opportunity of speaking. At the end of the debate, the students have to make the vote that which team has presented it well. 

Inner Circle Outer Circle Debate:

In this kind of debate, the teachers divide the students into two different groups. After dividing the students into two groups, the teachers assign them a topic and ask them to present the opposing arguments relevant to this topic. The members of a group have to listen to the point of views of the other group and formulate the discussions. Along with formulating the discussion, they have to present the opposing conclusions. At the time of the debate, the teachers sit the students at the chairs in the circle. After sitting the students on the chairs in the groups, the teachers read aloud the discussing topic. First of all, the teachers allow the first group members to discuss their point of views about the topic within ten to fifteen minutes. After that, they have to allow the other group members to take part in the discussion for the next ten to fifteen minutes. At last, teachers have to decide the winning students.

Abbreviated Lincoln Douglas Debate:

It is one on one debate model for the students. If students want to take part in this kind of debate model, they will have to select the questions that are of a deep moral. They can also select such questions for this debate that have philosophical nature. When students take part in this kind of debate format, the students have to claim their win or lose with the help of individual arguments. It means that the students don’t need to rely on their partners and group members for their win and lose. The kind of debate version consists of at least for fifteen minutes. The participants of the debate should manage their time effectively. Along with these types of debates, the students can also take part in some other kinds of debates.
